About this Blog

I've been a consumer of educational thinking, of blogs, articles, videos, CPD events and books all my career. But recently I was reflecting on something Robert Bjork here mentioned about learners needing to create, not just be exposed to new information, and it got me wondering: I claim to be a lifelong learner, but do I create in response to the things I learn?

Yes, I do. In the classroom, regularly. But, this is often direct actions I have read about, or my version of them. A bit like following an instruction manual. What I realised was that I didn't take time to create, to reflect, to experiment and clarify for myself what I was exposed to, but I did expect my students to do those things...

So this is me, walking the talk.

This blog is a reflections blog, not a 'How to....' blog, or a 'What to....' blog - there are many, many of these that do a far better job than I ever could.
This is my 'Why...?' blog. Where I stop to think for a bit, where I ask questions, often without knowing the answers. (In fact, I am suspicious of anyone who claims to know the answers these days!)
This is the first time I have done anything like this, I expect I will make some mistakes, all constructive feedback is welcome.

Anyway, welcome and thank you for stopping by.
